Your sense of smell is closely linked to memory, so it’s no wonder every month has a distinct scent associated with it. April smells like fresh dew covering newly blooming flowers; October smells like caramel apples and candy corn in a pumpkin patch; and August… August smells like pencil shavings, a fresh box of crayons and the sweet, sweet smell of warm, stale beer. Back-to-school season is upon us, and with it an undeniable air of excitement to try new things, make new friends and embrace the possibility of the unknown. Throw in a little college nostalgia and the return of Chiefs football, and you’ve got yourself a month with a multitude of reasons to get your drink on. So whether you’re looking to quell your secondhand first-day-of-school nerves or wanting to try something new at preseason tailgates, we’ve got just the recommendations for you. Here’s what we’re featuring at Brown Bag in August.
Iconic Back-to-School Beverages
If months have a smell, it’s safe to say they also have a taste. So what does August taste like to you? To us, it tastes like chugging UV Blue packed in sweaty fraternity basements, shotgunning Natty Lights at a tailgate and drinking OG Four Lokos when you have a test at 7pm but need to get ready for the pregame at 9. Your taste buds may have evolved since your school days, but we’ve got just the remedies for those of you who want to relive the glory days.
Naturdays. This is not the Natural Light you remember. It’s gotten a Strawberry and Pineapple Lemonade facelift, and it’s all the better for it. We carry Naturdays in both can form and alcoholic freeze pop form, for those of you really taking it back to your childhood.
MD 20/20. Throw it way back with MD 20/20, the original ready-to-drink favorite. We’ve got your fix in Orange Jubilee, Red Grape, Strawberry Kiwi flavors. And yes, it tastes exactly as you remember.
Boone’s Farm. 2005 called, it wants its hangover back. New Tailgate Classics
The Chiefs are back, but you know what didn’t go anywhere? Canned cocktails, that’s who. And there’s even more than before. Here’s what we recommend for tailgating season:
Cazadores Canned Cocktails. Get em in Margarita, Paloma and Spicy Margarita.
Bacardí Rum Punch. Plus Mojito, Bahama Mama, Limon & Lemonade, Lime & Soda and Sunset Punch. For tailgates with mixed tastes, we recommend springing for the Variety Pack.
Woodbridge Seltzers. It’s 2021. You can tailgate with wine. And seltzers. At the same time. Anything is possible! Woodbridge Wine Seltzers are available in Wildberry Watermelon, Cranberry Apple and Peach Mango. Don’t ask us to pick a favorite because that would be impossible.
