It’s the most wonderful (and busiest) time of year at Brown Bag, and we couldn’t be more excited to share what we’ve got going on this month. From in-store tastings to Christmas shopping and more, here’s what’s happening at your favorite local Olathe liquor store in December.

Christmas gifts galore

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, especially as you weave in and out of your favorite aisles in the store. We love turning Brown Bag into our own Winter Wonderland every December, and this year is no exception. But we don’t just stop at decorations; we love to adorn our shelves with the best boozy gifts you can give and receive. If you’re looking for alcohol gifts for that special someone, here’s what we’ve got on tap for the holidays.

Advent calendars. We’ve a variety of advent calendars on sale this year, each one tailored to a different type of alcohol connoisseur. There’s the Jack Daniel’s advent calendar for the Tennessee whiskey lover in your life, the 24 Craft Beers of Cheer for the beer sommelier and the Holiday Spirits Liqueur Calendar for the person who can’t get enough of all-things seasonal.

Stocking stuffers. Fun size is the name of the game when it comes to stocking stuffers, and we’ve got fun-sized gifts aplenty. 50 ml shooters make for perfect stocking stuffer gifts, as do small wine bottles for your favorite wine lovers. Just make sure you don’t put too many in each stocking, or they won’t be able to hang on the mantle!

Brown Bag Gift Cards. A Brown Bag gift card is the perfect Christmas gift for everyone on your list. You don’t have to guess their favorite drink or brand, and they can pick out exactly what they want.  It’s a win-win gift. And the best part? You don’t even have to wrap them.

New Year’s Eve festivities / Champagne showers

Some people think New Year’s Eve is overrated, but you won’t find any of those people at Brown Bag. We love a good reason to eat, drink and be merry, and we believe in kicking off 2022 on the best note possible. That’s why we’re excited to welcome the return of DJ Geefer Sutherland, who will be joining us on New Year’s Eve for a live DJ set. He’ll be spinning your favorite tracks of the year from 4pm to 7pm while you shop for your New Year’s Eve libations. DJ Geefer Sutherland’s set ends at 7pm, but we’re open our regular hours all day on New Year’s Eve (9am to 11pm) to ensure you have all the time to find what you need (We’re also open our regular hours all day on New Year’s Day. Did someone say hair of the dog?).

It’s tradition to pop a bottle of champagne on New Year’s Eve. Why? Because it’s fun, obviously. But there’s actually a deeper meaning: We drink champagne on New Year’s because it’s a symbolic representation of the joy a new year brings, a visual overflow of all the good to flood our lives in the coming months. Also, it tastes good. Below are our highest-ranking champagnes on our online shop:

Cupcake Moscato D’Asti

M&R Asti Spumante
